A natural way to cleanse the liver and the gallbladder

When it comes to our liver, well it pretty much does it all. It is the biggest gland and internal organ in our body, weighing in at about 1500 grams. Like the lungs, especially when a person quits smoking, it is one of the few organs that can regenerate itself as long as it is given enough support to function optimally.

There are various functions that the liver does for the rest of our systems throughout our body such as:

  • Storage for vitamins, minerals, sugar and breaks down nutrients for usage

  • Fights bacteria from blood and fights infections

  • Helps the hormones, insulin and glucagon, to release glucose

  • Makes cholesterol for hormones and tissue healing

  • Creates ketone bodies for cellular energy production

  • Produces proteins from amino acids

  • Detoxifies chemicals and metabolizes drugs

  • Coverts T4 into T3 activating thyroid hormone

  • Secretes hormones like angiotensinogen, erythropoietin, throbopoietin, hepcidin and somatomedin.

At times when we have taxed our livers into overload from either prescriptions, alcohol or any other chemical that we may not even know about, it can send the liver into overdrive. This in turn can create other systems in the body to not work as efficiently, as more toxins begin to build up overtime. According to Chinese medicine, this can also bring out feelings of anger or frustration, creating internal and external negativity into our environment.

What you will need:

  • A large mason jar

  • Epsom salts (internal use labeled)

  • extra virgin olive oil

  • organic apple juice

  • One large grapefruit or 3 lemons for taste

Before the Flush

You can take some detox supplements such as a kidney cleanse and parasite cleanse for two weeks prior to the flush, although it is not necessary. A colon cleanse is suggested so that you are able to eliminate more waste. These cleanses can be done in order for your body to detox more efficiently if you choose. The most important part to do before a flush, is to drink about 2 to 3, 8 oz glasses of organic apple juice a day for six days. The malic acid in apple juice will help to dissolve the stones in order to move them along the flush.

Recipe:

Do not eat or drink anything after 2 pm. This is very important since you may get severely nauseated if you do choose to eat after this time. For breakfast the day of the flush, you may have plain oatmeal with fruit without eating any seeds or having a smoothie. For lunch, having a baked potato, steamed or raw vegetables with only salt and pepper. Do not use any oils, butter or any kind of saturated fats for this day. Do not take any supplements or medication if you are able to skip one day of it. The only exception to the rule is if you are on thyroid medication, you should continue use. If you have been on chemo therapy, is it highly suggested that you wait 8 months since your last therapy session. From 2 pm to 8 pm, you are technically fasting. Drink plenty of water before hand so you are not thirsty or feeling too hungry.

Combined in a mason jar

4 Table spoons of Epsom salts (labeled for internal use)

3 cups of organic apple juice (freshly pressed is best)

1/2 cup of Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

6 pm- Combine 2 of the ingredients above in a large mason jar with the 4 tablespoons of Epsom salts and 3 cups of apple juice. Seal it with a lid and shake it up as much as possible. Make sure to shake it up as much as you can so that the epsom salts distribute evenly. Drink 3/4 cup of the concoction. If it is not easy to drink you may use a straw and/or close your nose as you drink this portion. You can rinse your mouth out with water as well after.

8pm- Repeat by drinking another 3/4 cup of what is in the mason jar. This would be a good time to prep for bed and get your home in order and brush your teeth to go to sleep. Once you drink the remaining portion, you will need to lie down in bed immediately. An in-home water enema at this time can help this process along if you choose to. This will help further move the stones along the next morning.

9:30 pm- There should be a remaining 1 and 3/4th cup left in the mason jar by now. Now add the 1/2 cup of olive oil to the jar. Squeeze the grapefruit or lemons by hand into the measuring cup. Remove the pulp with a fork. Close and tighten the lid, then shake it up. You maybe able to have a bowel movement by now.

10 pm- Before lying down at this time, if you need extra pillows to prop yourself for more comfort, do this before hand. Drink the remaining mixture in the mason jar and lie down immediately. Try and lie on your back. Lie perfectly still for at least 20 minutes. You may set up a guided meditation recording to help your body relax more for this 20 minutes. After this time, you may lie in any position that you wish, but it is better to continue to lie on your back as much as possible.

You may already start to feel some of the stones move along the ducts in the liver and gallbladder region. The epsom salts have helped to open these ducts to move the stones down. If you feel the urge to go after the 20 minutes is up, you can use the bathroom at this time. The next morning, you will have the urge to go right away. Check the toilet after a bowel movement, where you will see a very different kind of fecal matter. This is part of the concoction that you have taken, along with fatty bile components that will float up to the surface of the water.

The darker the color of the stones, the longer it has been stored in the body. Vise versa, with light colored stones with the less it has been stored in the body. The colors can range from tan, green, yellow, red to even black. This is due to the bilirubin and biliverdin. Most of the stones that are of tan or white stones will tend to sink to the bottom, as they contain more calcified substances. These particular stones that have accumulated the most in a person is what sets off severe pain in the abdominal region and sends them to the hospital to have the gallbladder removed. All of this can be prevented by doing the liver flush every so often. If you end up getting pain in the abdominal region during the flush, this is usually due to a large stone that is passing through and should go away within an hour. Drink plenty of water at this time. If for some reason the pain does not go away within an hour or two, consult your health practitioner.

It is recommended that you do the liver flush every 6 months to a year to maintain a healthy liver and gallbladder. You may choose to do the flush every 3 weeks apart if you feel you have not gotten very many stones out the first time and you still feel fatigued, heavy in the liver region, or are having consistent nausea and heart burn. The second time you do the flush and if you feel you have not be able to get many stones out the first time, it would be recommended to implement the colon, parasite and/or the kidney cleanse to the flush as a helpful detox process.
